Hi kiddies....I must say I was preparing food for my guest when they introduced Kat, as soon as they said POP Star, I cringed. I have never heard of her before. And immediately thought to myself, "oh, must be an American Idol thing".
So I continued with my preparations. Then it got worse. I am a big music person, and have increasingly been disappointed by new music trends.
This made me sick to my stomach. I actually feel sorry for younger generations, music has become atrocious in many ways, and its unfair to you younger folks. I grew up with amazing music, 70's, 80's, early 90's.
This Hip Hop street culture has no respect for anything sacred. Whitney & Marvin Gaye had real talent and class, and did the anthem justice.
These young singers need to stop thinking the Star Spangled Banner is a power ballad, with all the unnecssary vocal inflections, hand gestures, and semi hip hop dance moves. You can even hear her put in some country twang in, which was just ridiculous.
It is a clear example of what happens when you let singers use the national anthem as a stepping stone to their careers. Clearly the song means nothing to them, its just a way of being seen by millions. The national anthem is symbolic. Even if ur not patriotic you should know that. Most people know that. Why are singers oblivious to this widely known fact. The singer's not important, the song is.
Kat, word of advice, next time just sing the darn song.
